With three corporate stores in Toronto, Canada, and an ever-growing wholesale business that spans the United States and Canada, Franco Mirabelli continues to distinguish himself as one of Canada's strongest fashion talents.

Mirabelli's ready-to-wear sportswear collection is designed and manufactured in his hometown of Toronto, where he owns three retail shops called MIRABELLI. The line wholesales across Canada to the country's finest boutiques, and a thriving demand for the line has landed his label in shops across the U.S. and in premiere department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom.

His design talents have also been brought in and was selected to create original staff uniforms for the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, Canada's first opera house and grace the visual look of front-of-house staff at Toronto's first five-star hotel, The Hazelton, and Mark McEwan's "One" Restaurant.

His support for the Canadian fashion industry as a whole must be noted. During his tenure as President of Designers Ontario, he galvanized the Toronto Ready-to-Wear Collections into the largest representation of designers from across Canada, and he negotiated the first corporate sponsor for the national shows.

The Fashion Group International of Toronto has honoured his achievements with a tribute evening: the Night of Stars. He has been awarded a Man of Style Award for his dapper personal style, and he was presented with a City of Toronto Industry Achievement award for Excellence in Fashion Design. He has been named Designer of the Year by the City of Toronto, and also won the Arts and Culture Award from the Italian Chamber of Commerce.

He is a strong believer in giving back to the community that has supported him, and so, he has a long history of supporting numerous charities, lending both his product and time to raise funds for events, such as Windfall Clothing, the National Ballet School, the Children's Miracle Network, the Hospital for Sick Kids, CANFAR, the Red Cross International, the Teddy Bear Affair for the Children's Aid Foundation, the United Way, FACE, Message in a Bottle, Fashion Cares, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

His down-to-earth personality reflects his simple beginnings. He started in his parents' basement, with a lot of drive and his mother's help as a professional seamstress. Mirabelli studied at the prestigious American design school Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. On graduation, he was tapped by the Anne Klein Company in New York as a design assistant, and trained under the guidance of Louis Dell'Olio and Donna Karan. In 1984, he returned to Toronto and launched the first FRANCO MIRABELLI collection.

Mirabelli's label has developed a reputation as a hip, sophisticated line. His designs reflect his European roots, with an emphasis on luxurious European fabrics and precise tailoring. His signature style has been described as elegant, modern, and sexy.
