FRANCO MIRABELLI OPENS NEW MIRABELLI  STORE AT BAYVIEW VILLAGE

Bucking the economic trend of the last six months which saw more retailers close than open, leading Canadian fashion designer Franco Mirabelli opened a new Mirabelli store in Bayview Shopping Mall on June 6th.

At 2,000 square feet, Mirabelli at Bayview is the largest of the three Mirabelli stores, providing ample room for the designer, known for his contemporary, transseasonal suitings, to showcase more special, limited edition designs that are available exclusively at his eponymous stores.

"With our lease on our Yorkdale location expiring after 12 years in March 2009, we began to look at other options," says Franco.  "The Bayview Village location has enabled us to almost double our previous retail space at Yorkdale and take advantage of a premier location that may not have been available at another time.  Also most malls are becoming known for housing big chain stores.  We wanted to move away from that environment and be with other like-minded specialty boutiques and designer shops."

Mirabelli at Bayview features a natural stone tile floor with the look of concrete.  Stainless steel fixtures create a modern, contemporary look while snow-coloured walls and touches of amber add warmth.  Customers will have a smart sitting area comprised of oversized black leather furniture - the perfect place to relax while shopping.

While Mirabelli at Bayview opens with a summer collection of fresh, light suitings and casual wear, customers will also have a sneak preview of Fall/Winter 2009.  Franco expresses Fall 2009 with a focus on sharp tailoring, sculptural suits, well-cut pants and blazers, seductively draped jersey tops, structured dresses with deliberately folded collars and precisely cut coats with definite shape.

"The global show down has made everyone stop and take a look at what works and what doesn't," says Franco.  "Frivolous ruffles seem silly and old, while sharp tailoring and luxe fabrics are fresh and new.  It's about looking at the subtle details of dressing."

The other Mirabelli stores are located at 456 Eglinton Avenue West and at 1130 Yonge Street in Rosedale.

Mirabelli at Bayview Village is open Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 12 Noon to 5:00 p.m.

SPRING/SUMMER 2009
- Crisp, Clean Tailoring With a Lightness of Being

Franco Mirabelli captures Spring-Summer 2009 with a Collection featuring crisp, clean tailoring with a lightness of being. With many pieces having a 60s influence, colours are fresh while fabrics range the gamut from edgy technical to stretch satins. Designed to take a woman from day into evening, Mirabelli’s Spring-Summer 2009 Collection has three pre-dominate groupings:

Urban Chic Suitings
Keeping you cool in warm weather and warm in cool is what a unique ceramic finish in this grouping will do to help make the transition from winter to spring fashionably easy. Suitings in an Italian viscose-lycra blend have a unique ceramic finish that not only provides the ideal trans-seasonal fabric but is opulent to the touch. Look for draped pants with high waists, skinny walking shorts and demure tapered skirts topped with jackets that emphasize the waist. Intricate detailing such as tick stitching, interesting pocket and seaming effects add contemporary flair while a light palette of pale greys and taupes bring a fresh perspective.

City Casual Separates
Casual dressing at its best, this grouping of stretch cotton suitings and separates is hip and edgy. White top stitching accents endearing black & white gingham checks and bursts of colour ranging from fuschia and apple to turquoise and ANOTHER COLOUR. Black and white separates are the perfect backdrop for Mirabelli’s pure linen shirts with tunic shapes and contrasting collars and pockets. Denim takes on a dazzling look with a metallic lurex yarn.

Event Dressing Essentials
Special nights on the towns require attention-getting dressing. These rich, jewel tone co-ordinated separates and dresses can be worn year-round for events ranging from dressy casual dinners to high-glam cocktails. Fabrics range from man-made technicals with a crinkly, pleated effect to stretch satins. The overall look is über-chic yet feminine.

Franco Mirabelli’s Spring/Summer Collection is available at this three Mirabelli stores in Toronto as well as at fine women’s boutiques across Canada.

FRANCO MIRABELLI BRINGS CANADIAN FASHION TO ROSEDALE

Fashion designer Franco Mirabelli brings Canadian fashion to Rosedale with the opening of his newest Mirabelli boutique located at 1130 Yonge Street, in Toronto.

"This is an exciting development for the Mirabelli brand," says Franco Mirabelli. "We have been looking for another store front location in a high end neighbourhood for some time. This Yonge street location in the heart of Rosedale is a dream comes true for us."

The 1100 square foot store features a retro turn of the century store front in keeping with the building's 100-year-old heritage. Inside, the store features chrome 7th Avenue rolling racks that play off warm white walls and oak plank flooring. Mirabelli, who designed the store himself, used accents of recycled metal along with brushed metal, cork and various natural wood fixtures add texture and a feeling of hip, comfort. "I was striving to create a look for the store that blends with the upscale style of the neighbourhood while maintaining a relaxed lux feel," says Mirabelli.

Mirabelli in Rosedale becomes the third store in Toronto for the Canadian fashion designer who has made a name for himself as a progressive and visionary designer. The other Mirabelli stores are located in Yorkdale Shopping Centre and at 456 Eglinton Avenue West. "The Eglinton Avenue store has been our longest standing store in Toronto," says Mirabelli. "We always enjoyed being part of the neighbourhood which only a street front location can provide. This new location on Yonge Street affords us the same opportunity and we are really looking forward to being a recognized retailer in the Rosedale community."

Mirabelli's hip, sophisticated designs reflect his European roots, with an emphasis on luxurious European fabrics and precise tailoring. His signature style has been described as modern, sophisticated and sexy. Franco captures Fall/Winter 2008/09 in three distinct moods:

  1. Urban Lux - This classic collection features structured, yet opulent suiting in trendsetting super fine stretch wools, Donegal tweeds and stretch wools patterned in over-sized windowpane and glen checks. Shots of violet and pomegranate add drama to a palette of neutrals, black and white mixtures, and shades of grey. The overall look is one of constructed elegance with an urban edge.

  2. Eclectic Sporty Chic - Fun knits and zip-detailed jackets rule the sporty portion of this collection which is complimented by the addition of Franco's new M-Line dresses. Eight edgy dresses in funky jersey prints present a youthful and contemporary look.

  3. High-Tech Glam - Metallic fabrics in pewter and black predominate in this collection of high-tech, glam dressing for holiday 2008. Look for sportswear and cocktail wear made from brocades with interesting metal detailing, liquid metallic knits and shimmering, industrial techno fabrics.

Franco's Fall/Winter 2008-09 Collection will be available in Mirabelli In Rosedale, Yorkdale Shopping Centre and 456 Eglinton Avenue West as of mid-August 2008.

Mirabelli In Rosedale is open Monday to Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Thursday until 8:00 p.m.
